The wait is over for Monterrey, who kick off their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign this Tuesday against UEFA Champions League runners-up Inter Milan. The match will be held at the iconic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, as part of Group E action.

The fixture will mark the official debut of Domènec Torrent as head coach of the Liga MX side. The Spanish tactician shared his excitement just hours ahead of the opening match:
“We'll show the world who are. I have no doubt this is a great opportunity to prove ourselves against some of the world’s top teams,” Torrent stated.

Sergio Canales, one of the team's marquee players, echoed the sentiment of pride and responsibility.
“Above all, we want to represent the city of Monterrey and Mexico with full commitment. We came here full of hope. The fans have shown us great support, and we want to make them proud. We left Monterrey with their full backing,” said the Spanish midfielder.

Speaking ahead of Monterrey’s clash this Tuesday against Inter Milan, Nelson Deossa emphasized confidence and mindset as key to facing elite opposition.

“When it comes time to face teams like this, you have to go out there without fear,” he said. “You have to show why you're wearing this jersey, the qualities that brought you here. It’s about playing them as equals. Of course, it's difficult because they’re European teams, but we have the quality to compete with anyone.”

The Colombian also stressed the importance of enjoying the experience on such a big stage.
“We have to enjoy it – to enjoy it as players, as people, as dreamers," he said. "That’s the mindset: go out there and do our best, give everything we have.”
