Liverpool youngster Kieran Morrison is reportedly set to sign a new contract at the club despite summer transfer interest.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 17-year-old has 'verbally agreed' to a new deal, which should run until 2027. The transfer expert says it is not signed and sealed yet but it should be announced soon for the attacking central midfielder, who was reportedly the subject of transfer interest last summer.

Liverpool have shown there can be a pathway for their academy players to the first-team, although it is far from easy. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and most recently Conor Bradley are success stories in that regard. The latter, who impressed on loan at Bolton last season, put in a stunning display in the Reds' 4-1 win over Chelsea last month and Morrison will hope to follow in the 20-year-old right-back's footsteps in years to come.

Morrison joined Liverpool's academy as an under-14 player after previously being in Manchester United's youth setup. Like Northern Ireland international Bradley, the teenager has represented Northern Ireland at youth level but he could yet play for England as he is eligible to play for either country.

Morrison could be in action for Liverpool's under-21 side when they host Stoke City in Premier League 2 on Sunday afternoon. Bradley, on the other hand, will hope to feature for the first-team on Saturday afternoon at home to Burnley.
