With the 2025 MLS campaign less than 20 days away, Lionel Messi is already captivating fans during Inter Miami’s pre-season tour across Latin America. The Argentine superstar dazzled in their latest clash against Sporting San Miguelito, showcasing his impeccable skills — including a mesmerizing run past three defenders that nearly resulted in a goal, denied only by a sharp save from the goalkeeper. The moment went viral on social, showing the forward still has plenty in his bag at 37.

Inter Miami, under new manager Javier Mascherano, have already secured penalty shootout wins against Club América and Club Universitario de Deportes. As Messi continues to shine, fans are once again reminded why he remains one of the greatest to ever play the game.

While Inter Miami have thrived during preseason, Lionel Messi is still finding his feet as the Argentine was kept at bay by the Sporting San Miguelito goalkeeper Marcos Antonio de León Reyes. The 25-year-old did his best to keep the star-studded Inter Miami side from scoring but was eventually overcome by the pressure, as walked away with a 3-1 win.

That same cannot be said about Luis Suarez, though, as the former Liverpool striker enjoyed a better game compared to his legendary strike partner. However, while his dogged presence leading the line didn’t end up in a goal for him, he did manage to assist one for Tadeo Allende. That sent the game in Inter Miami’s favor at 2-1 before Fafa Picault scored the third goal to seal the deal.

Inter Miami’s final game of the South and Central American part of their preseason takes place in Honduras and the Herons will face Olimpia. They then return to America to continue their pre-season, with a friendly game against Orlando FC and a CONCACAF Champions Cup clash against Sporting Kansas City. That is all before their MLS season officially starts as Mascherano’s side kick things off against New York City FC on Feb. 23, which lies between their two-legged Round 1 CONCACAF Champions Cup clash.
